Challenge
The average shopper spends over 40 minutes per trip, 1.5 times a week. For busy customers, "aisle blindness" and confusing layouts turn a routine chore into a time-sink.
Solution
Compass Cart is a real-time navigation app that maps grocery items to specific aisles, cutting down search time and streamlining the shopping experience.
User Research
Originally, I assumed checkout lines were the main delay. However, research showed "in-store navigation" and "aisle blindness" were the true culprits. As a result, I shifted my focus from list-making to real-time indoor mapping.
Goal
Reducing cognitive load. I prioritized a persistent tab bar (Home, List, Map) to ensure Avalon never feels lost, mirroring the physical layout of the store in a digital interface.
