BACKGROUND

The Tennessee Caregiver Coalition (TCC) provides vital respite vouchers, support groups, and crisis helpline resources to family caregivers statewide.

PROBLEM

Caregivers face high levels of burnout and limited free time. Complex website navigation & friction in finding resources prevent them from accessing critical support like respite funding or local support networks.

GOAL

Simplify navigation, improve visual accessibility, and streamline resource discovery so stressed caregivers can find help quickly on any device.

MY Role & Responsibilities

  • Conducted initial user research and heuristic evaluations of the existing digital platform.

  • Collaborated in a cross-functional student team organized by Develop for Good.

  • Designed low-to-high fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes in Figma.

  • Handed off technical documentation and design tokens for front-end implementation.

  • Delivered a fully interactive prototype and comprehensive design system to TCC stakeholders.

  • Optimized core task flows to help caregivers request respite funding in under 3 steps.

Reflection & Learnings

  1. Designing for High-Stress Users: Learned how accessibility, clear contrast, and minimal cognitive load directly support users in demanding life situations.

  2. Nonprofit Collaboration: Gained experience balancing technical constraints and stakeholder goals within nonprofit digital transformations.
